WAITE and Son enjoys a reputation for “quality and virtue”, its advert in the Echo said this week in 1960.
The jeweller, situated at 210 Cheltenham High Street, was “famous for engagement rings since 1814″, the advert boasted.
Its craftsmen could alter finger sizes of rings within a few hours, the public were told.
THE British Nylon Spinners Factory in Brockworth was seeking around 50 men to start work in March 1960.
They would be trained to manufacture the nylon yarn.
An advert was placed on April 2, 1960, for a radio and television engineer for Radio Rentals in High Street, Cheltenham.
At the end of March 1960, a “young” sales lady “of smart appearance and pleasant personality” was required for the costume jewellery department at Cavendish House.
